Casey Creehan

Casey Creehan, an assistant coach with the Montreal Alouettes of the Canadian Football League last year, has been named an assistant football coach at Eastern Michigan University, new Head Coach Ron English announced today, Jan. 15. Creehan will be responsible for coaching the defensive line.

As a member of the Alouettes staff, Creehan helped the team make it to the Grey Cup championship game. Prior to his stint with Montreal, Creehan was an assistant coach for four seasons with the Calgary Stampeders, from 2004-07, and was part of three CFL playoff appearances.

Creehan began his college college career at Lehigh University as a defensive assistant on the 1999 team that won the Patriot League championship. He moved to to Southern Illinois University in 2000, to Clarion University in 2001-02, and from there was on the James Madison University staff for the 2003 and 2004 season where he was the defensive ends and special teams coach

A native of Pittsburgh, the 31-year-old Creehan played football at Grove City College in Grove City, Pa. where he was a standout defensive player. He was captain of the 1998 Grove City team that won the Presidents Athletic Conference championship. He was also named an All-Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference linebacker in 1998 and was a two-time All-Presidents Athletic Conference linebacker in 1997 and 1998. He set the Grove City single-season tackles record with 126 stops in 1998.

Creehan earned his bachelor’s degree in political science from Grove City in 1999 and completed his master’s degree in health and physical education at Emporia State University in May 2006.
