EMU: 2018: Drafted in the 20th round (593rd overall) by the Oakland Athletics…A true five tool threat who earned Second Team All-MAC Honors…Only player to start in all 56 games, making 54 starts at shortstop and two at DH…Led EMU in hits (72), runs (43), doubles (16), total bases (100), hit by pitch (12), and steals (24), as well as multi-hit games (19) and multi-RBI games (8)…The 24 steals were tied for the 10-most in a single season in program history…Also second in batting average (.317), slugging (.441), and OBP (.400), as well as third in home runs (4)…His steals, doubles, and at bats were second in the MAC, while his hits were fourth, total bases seventh, and runs eighth…Was also the toughest player to strike out in the MAC, only fanning 23 times in 227 at bats…Nationally, was 45th in the country in steals, and the 93rd toughest player to strikeout…In the field, had 173 assists, good for first in the MAC, while also helping to turn 32 double plays…Named to the Academic All-MAC Team for the second straight season…2017: Appeared in 56 games, starting 40 at all four infield positions…Finished with 34 hits including six doubles, a triple, and two home runs, while driving in 27, scoring 20 runs, and stealing nine bases…Led EMU with a .404 on-base percentage after setting the single-season program record with 19 hit by pitch, as well as 19 walks…19 HBP was tied for 18th-most in the country…Named to the MAC All-Tournament team after hitting a tournament-best .556, including a tournament-high 10 hits, nine RBIs, and 18 total bases…In addition, he notched two doubles, two home runs, four runs scored, and three walks in the postseason…Only committed four errors in 207 chances for a .981 fielding percentage…Named to the Academic All-MAC Team…2016: Appeared in 47 games, starting 37 in the infield, the most for any freshman in 2016…Collected 29 hits, including a double, as well as tallying 11 RBI’s and 10 runs scored…Recorded the second most assists on the team with 91 while playing second base, shortstop, and third base…His first career hit was a double against No. 1 Florida, Feb. 23…Had six multi-hit games, including a three-hit game against Arizona State, March 5, and a four-hit game against Purdue, April 12…Had a two-RBI game against Lipscomb, March 19…HIGH SCHOOL: Attended Portage Northern High School...Helped his team to three district championships, one conference title, and to the state final in his career...Hit .490 with 33 RBI’s and 41 runs scored during his junior campaign...Was named to the Kalamazoo Dream Team and all-state team his senior year...Garnered Kalamazoo Dream Team accolades and first team all-district honors his junior year...Was academic all-state his junior and senior years...Also played basketball in high school...PERSONAL: Full name: Maxwell Carter Schuemann...Son of John and Lisa Schuemann...Has one brother, Logan...Major: Marketing.
