EMU allowed just two shots
MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University soccer team dominated the run of play but was held to a 0-0 draw at Robert Morris Sunday, Aug. 30, outshooting the Colonials 17-2.
The Eagles controlled virtually every statistical category across 90 minutes, generating six corner kicks to Robert Morris's one and putting six shots on goal to the Colonials' zero. Yet despite the territorial dominance, EMU could not convert — the closest either team came to a goal was a Ciara Brown (Wyandanch, N.Y. / Auburn) shot that rattled the crossbar in the 64th minute. Eastern Michigan moves to 1-1-2 on the 2026 season.
How It Happened
Eastern Michigan set the tone early when forward Avery Hilvert (Powell, Ohio / Olentangy Liberty) put the Eagles' first shot on goal in the 21st minute, a low-left attempt that RMU goalkeeper Emma Cameron turned aside.
EMU continued to press in the second half, with defender Ella Fuller (Dublin, Ohio / Jerome) testing Cameron twice — at 57:13 and again at 77:29 — with high-center shots that the Colonials' keeper denied on both occasions. Fuller played 64 minutes and was among EMU's most dangerous threats despite lining up in the backline.
The moment that came closest to breaking the deadlock arrived in the 64th minute, when Brown fired a shot that struck the crossbar. The ball stayed out, and the match remained scoreless.
Defender Gillian Poiesz (New Providence, N.J. / New Providence) was second on the team in shots with four, including one on goal that forced a save in the 57th minute, in 58 minutes of play. Forward Olivia Sipsock (Medina, Ohio / Medina) led all players on both teams with five shots in 63 minutes, applying relentless pressure on the Robert Morris backline.
On the other end, goalkeeper Ella Holland (Dunwoody, Ga. / Dunwoody) was rarely tested, facing just two shots over the full 90 minutes. Defender Reese Carpenter (Terrace Park, Ohio / Mount Notre Dame HS) anchored the backline alongside Christie Fransen (Wooster, Ohio / Wooster), who played all 90 minutes, as Eastern held Robert Morris to zero shots on goal.
Defender Rosalie Takacsy (Orchard Park, N.Y. / Orchard Park) contributed a shot on goal in 67 minutes, forcing a save in the 64th minute, while Cameryn Susey (Westerville, Ohio / Olentangy Berlin) registered a shot on goal in 66 minutes of action. Despite the statistical dominance, Cameron's six-save effort kept the match level through the final whistle.
