YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) –
For the first time in program history, the Eastern Michigan University women's golf team will play in an NCAA event as the Eagles were selected as an at-large participant for the 2026 NCAA Tallahassee Regional that will be played May 11-13 at Seminole Legacy Golf Club in Tallahassee, Fla. Eastern is seeded fifth in the 12-team regional with a berth into the NCAA Women's Golf Championships on the line.

After finishing second at the 2026 Mid-American Conference Championships, April 26-28, at Firestone Country Club in Akron, Ohio, the Eagles remained among the national top 30 and earned a berth into the regional competition for the first time as a team and the second consecutive year with an Eastern player in the regional round as Savannah de Bock (Ecaussinnes-d'enghien, Belgium/Institut de l'Enfant-Jésus-Lycée/Georgia), who placed third at the MAC event, competed in the 2025 NCAA Columbus Regional as an at-large qualifier, marking the first time an EMU woman competed in the national event. The only other national postseason appearance the program has previously made was when it finished second last year at the Women's National Golf Invitational, an event in its fourth year that welcomes teams that did not qualify to the regional event.

Eastern has already played on the host course after competing in the Florida State Match Up, hosted by Florida State University, March 20-22, with the Eagles finishing in second place at 4-over 868 while host FSU took the title at 4-under 860 on its home course. Eastern was 1-1-0 in the FSU event against teams it will see in the regional tournament with the win coming over the University of North Florida, who finished seventh at 29-over 893.

The NCAA Tallahassee Regional will feature 12 teams with the top five in the standings following the third round punching their tickets to the NCAA Championships, May 22-27, in Carlsbad, Calif., at the Omni La Costa Resort & Spa. Eastern is the No. 5 seed in the region and ranked No. 27 in the Scoreboard/Clippd rankings with the top four seeds in the region belonging to No. 3 University of Florida, No. 9 Wake Forest University, No. 15 University of California Los Angeles, and No. 25 and host FSU. Following the Eagles are No. 34 University of Kentucky, No. 41 Purdue University, No. 46 Clemson University, No. 64 University of Louisiana Monroe, No. 81 North Florida, No. 172 University of Arkansas Little Rock, and No. 184 University of Texas-Rio Grande Valley.

The Eagles have already faced six of the 11 other teams in the Tallahassee field and holds a 6-2-0 record this year. Along with the 1-1-0 record at the FSU Match Up, Eastern went 0-1-0 against Florida, 2-0-0 against UCLA, 1-0-0 against ULM, and 2-0-0 against Little Rock. The two wins over UCLA marked two of the biggest wins of the year as the Eagles placed second to the Bruin's third-place showing at the Alice & John Wallace Invitational before EMU tied for fourth and UCLA finished seventh at the GameAbove Invitational.

While regional competitions are new for the program, they are familiar territory for several of the individuals on the roster. Along with her appearance at the 2025 NCAA Columbus Regional, de Bock played in the 2024 NCAA Auburn Regional for the University of Georgia before coming to Ypsilanti. Both Janae Leovao (Oceanside, Calif./El Camino/Long Beach State) and Jasmine Leovao (Oceanside, Calif./El Camino/Long Beach State) competed in several NCAA events during their three-year careers at California State University Long Beach as Janae took part in the 2024 NCAA Cle Elum Regional and the 2025 NCAA Gold Canyon Regional for the 49ers while Jasmine played in the 2023 NCAA San Antonio Regional before the 2024 and 2025 events. Jasmine Leovao placed eighth at the NCAA Cle Elum Regional to earn an individual berth into the NCAA Championships that season.

Additionally, Head Coach Josh Brewer is no stranger to the regional competitions. Prior to his arrival in Ypsilanti ahead of the 2024-25 season, he guided the Georgia program for 12 years and led the Bulldogs to 10 regional appearances with three victories (2016, 2021, and 2023) and four appearances at the NCAA Championships (2016, 2021, 2022, and 2023).
