Ty Stecko Named MAC Baseball Player of the Week

The senior homered in all four games last week, totaling five home runs

CLEVELAND, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) – Eastern Michigan University baseball student-athlete Ty Stecko was named Mid-American Conference Player of the Week Monday, April 27.

Stecko (North Huntingdon, Pa./Norwin/Mount St. Mary's) homered in every game he played in last week, totaling five long balls in four games, including a two-homer game against Northern Illinois, April 25.

In 18 at-bats, the senior recorded a .500 batting average and 1.968 OPS. He had nine hits, seven of which went for extra bases (two doubles and five home runs), equaling 10 RBI and 26 total bases. Stecko joins Houston's Cade Climie as the only Division I players with an active four-game home run streak and sits five games behind Pittsburgh's Lorenzo Carrier, who homered in nine straight games from Feb. 28 to March 13 earlier this season. He is the first EMU player to homer in four consecutive games since the 2002 season, when program career home runs leader Ryan Goleski (2001-03) did so from May 17-19 in the 2002 season.

The honor marks Stecko's first player of the week award in his collegiate career and EMU baseball's first of the season. Before Stecko, the last Eagle to earn MAC Player of the Week honors was Devan Zirwas (Imperial, Pa./West Allegheny/VCU) who garnered the recognition March 4, 2025.
