AKRON, Ohio – (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University swim and dive programs saw Rose Kendrick earn Freshman Diver of the Year on the final day of the 2026 Mid-American Conference (MAC) Championships, hosted by the University of Akron, at the Oliver J. Ocasek Natatorium in Akron, Ohio, on Saturday, Feb. 28.

Kendrick (Geneva, N.Y./Geneva) became the third Eagle to earn the award, joining Megan Lupa (Campden, Ontario/West Niagara Secondary) in 2025 and Micaela Schempf in 2018.

Eastern finished the meet in sixth place with 263 points. The University of Akron defended its title with 771 points.

How it Happened: Day Four
Four swimmers qualified for the finals with top 16 finishes in the prelims session. Marlee Christie (Seminole, Fla./Seminole) swam a personal best and the new program No. 3 time of 49.77 in the 100y freestyle to qualify, followed by Emma Littrell (Taylor Mill, Ky./St. Henry District) who also qualified with a personal best time of 50.54. Nina LaRosa (Bay Village, Ohio/Bay) swam a time of 2:19.52 in the 200y breaststroke to advance to the finals, and Shayne Patrick (Reno, Nev./TMCC Magnet High School) qualified for the 200y butterfly final in 2:03.60.

Kendrick finished fourth in the three meter diving A final, with 279.30 points. She was followed by Aisling Gutierrez (New Kent, Va./New Kent), who finished eighth with 202.15 points.
 
In the 1,650y freestyle, Nehir Oz (Istanbul, Turkey/Cevre) earned a sixth place finish with a time of 16:57.54. Christie finished eighth in the 100y freestyle, touching the wall in 51.25. She was followed by Littrell, who matched her personal best time of 50.54 that she swam earlier in the day in the prelims session. LaRosa swam the 200y breaststroke final in 2:18.77, and Patrick finished the 200y butterfly in 2:04.73. The 400y freestyle relay team of Littrell, Christie, Abbey Clarke (Caledon, Ont./Robert F. Hall), and Lucy Noble (Flagler Beach, Fla./Flagler Palm Coast) swam a time of 3:24.31.
