Christie and LaRosa Swim Program Top 10 Times on Day Three of Swim and Dive MAC Championships

Day Three Results
AKRON, Ohio – (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University swim and dive programs saw Marlee Christie and Nina LaRosa swim program top 10 times in the 200y freestyle relay (50y freestyle leadoff in 22.83) and 100y breaststroke finals (1:01.25), respectively, on the third day of the 2026 Mid-American Conference (MAC) Championships, hosted by the University of Akron, at the Oliver J. Ocasek Natatorium in Akron, Ohio, on Friday, Feb. 27.
Eastern is in sixth place with 180 points as the Eagles earned seven personal best marks and 60 points on the third day of action.
How it Happened: Day Three
Four swimmers earned their spots in the finals with top 16 finishes in the prelims session. Tristen Mina (Santa Clara, Calif./The King's Academy) earned her spot in the 100y butterfly finals with a prelim time of 54.96, while LaRosa (Bay Village, Ohio/Bay) finished sixth in the 100y breaststroke in 1:01.90 to qualify for the finals. Both Azra Umut (Istanbul, Turkey/Fernerbahce School) and Emma Littrell (Taylor Mill, Ky./St. Henry District) swam qualifying times in the 200y freestyle, as Umut finished in 1:50.16, and Littrell followed in 1:50.57.
In the three meter diving prelims, Rose Kendrick (Geneva, N.Y./Geneva) and Aisling Gutierrez (New Kent, Va./New Kent) both qualified for the A final with scores of 272.35 points and 264.20 points, respectively. Megan Lupa (Campden, Ontario/West Niagara Secondary) earned a spot in the B final with 229.50 points.
The finals session was highlighted by LaRosa's fourth place finish in the 100y breaststroke, as she swam a personal best time of 1:01.25, improving her program No. 3 mark. Littrell swam a personal best 1:50.00 in the 200y freestyle, finishing 12th. Mina finished the 100y butterfly final in seventh, touching the wall in 55.05.
The 200y freestyle relay team of Christie (Seminole, Fla./Seminole), Abbey Clarke (Caledon, Ont./Robert F. Hall), Littrell, and Lucy Noble (Flagler Beach, Fla./Flagler Palm Coast), finished sixth in 1:31.64. Christie's lead off of 22.83 ties for third best 50y freestyle in program history, sharing the spot with Madeleine Pilchard.
