The Eagles have earned 11 personal best marks on the first and second days of competition

AKRON, Ohio – (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University swim and dive programs finished the second day of the 2026 Mid-American Conference (MAC) Championships, hosted by the University of Akron, at the Oliver J. Ocasek Natatorium in Akron, Ohio, on Thursday, Feb. 26. Eastern is in sixth place with 120 points.

After the first and second days of action, the Eagles have earned 11 personal best marks.

How it Happened: Day One
The first night of competition consisted of the 200y medley relay and the 800y freestyle relay. The 200y medley relay team of Siporah Sang (London, Ontario/Sir Frederick Banting Secondary School), Nina LaRosa (Bay Village, Ohio/Bay), Tristen Mina (Santa Clara, Calif./The King's Academy), and Marlee Christie (Seminole, Fla./Seminole) finished in sixth place with a time of 1:41.05.

The 800y freestyle relay team of Azra Umut (Istanbul, Turkey/Fernerbahce School), Nehir Oz (Istanbul, Turkey/Cevre), Marianna Fardella (Serres, Greece/40 Geniko Lykeio Serron), and Emma Littrell (Taylor Mill, Ky./St. Henry District) finished fifth with a time of 7:22.36, and a personal best 200y freestyle from Umut in 1:49.06.

The Eagles scored 26 points in the 200y medley relay and 28 points in the 800y freestyle relay, bringing their total to 54 points, tied for fifth place with Miami University after day one.

How it Happened: Day Two
Two swimmers earned their spots in the finals with top 16 finishes in the prelims session, both coming in the 500y freestyle. Umut led the way with a sixth place finish in 4:55.44, and was followed by Oz, who finished in seventh with a time of 4:56.15. In addition to the two Eagles making the finals cut, eight more personal best times were earned in the prelims.

In the 500y freestyle final, Oz finished in sixth place with a time of 4:55.18, a new personal best time from her prelims earlier in the day. She was followed by Umut, who earned seventh place with a time of 4:57.16.

The 400y medley relay saw the team of Fardella, LaRosa, Mina, and Littrell finish fifth with a time of 3:41.47

Two divers qualified for the one meter finals, as Rose Kendrick (Geneva, N.Y./Geneva) finished in seventh place in the A final with a score of 257.35 points, and Aisling Gutierrez (New Kent, Va./New Kent) finished in eighth place in the B final with 227.45 points.

The Eagles scored a total of 66 points, bringing their total up to 120 points at the end of day two, putting them in sixth place.
