Seth Caddell Named Baseball Assistant Coach/Recruiting Coordinator

Former minor league player and coach begins his duties with the Eagles immediately

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – Eastern Michigan University Interim Head Baseball Coach Trevor Beerman announced the hiring of Seth Caddell as an assistant coach/recruiting coordinator Monday, Feb. 2.
 
Caddell has three years of minor league playing experience and two years of coaching experience in the minors. He most recently served as a development coach, working with catchers for the double-A Akron RubberDucks of the Cleveland Guardians organization. He begins his duties immediately and will be with the Eagles for their opening series at Little Rock, Feb. 13-15.
 
"We're excited to add Seth to our coaching staff," said Beerman. "He has a unique ability to connect with people. He's played and coached at the professional level, comes from winning programs, and knows how to communicate with players in a way that brings out their best. I'm excited to see the impact he makes this spring," concluded the interim head coach.
 
After three years in the minor leagues, Caddell ventured into coaching with the Double-A Akron RubberDucks, he served as the bullpen coach in 2024 before acting as a development coach in the 2025 campaign. With the RubberDucks, Caddell trained four catchers that earned a major-league spring training invite, highlighted by top-100 prospect Cooper Ingle, along with Kody Huff, Cameron Bastard, and Jacob Cozart. He aided in coaching base running and pitch strategy, while assisting in scouting, player evaluation, and training plans. Caddell also served on the Guardians major-league spring training staff from 2024-25 and was on the taxi squad staff for the 2024 playoffs.

I am fully committed to these players and this community moving forward, and I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Interim Head Coach Trevor Beerman and Director of Athletics Scott Wetherbee for giving me this opportunity," he concluded.
 
Following his junior season at East Carolina, Caddell was signed by the Cleveland Guardians organization, July 24, 2021, forgoing his final year of collegiate baseball to begin a three-year minor-league career that saw him reach as high as the triple-A level with the Columbus Clippers.
 
A standout on the diamond for East Carolina from 2018-21, Caddell played for a Pirates squad that won one American Athletic Conference Championship (2018), made three NCAA Regional appearances (2018-21), and two super regionals (2019, 2021). Primarily as a catcher, Caddell earned a second-team all-region selection by the American Baseball Coaches' Association following the 2021 campaign, after batting .270 with a. 899 OPS, recording 53 hits, 14 home runs, and 47 RBI. Cadell was a career .263-hitter, totaling over 100 hits, 20 home runs, and 80 RBI. Behind the dish, he posted a career .996 fielding percentage with 70 assists and just four errors.  
 
In the classroom, Cadell earned three AAC All-Academic Team selections (2018-20), and graduated with a bachelor's degree in parks, recreation, and leisure studies in December 2021.
 
Hailing from Carthage, N.C., Cadell attended Pinecrest High School, where he earned numerous accolades on the baseball field, earning his way to a premier collegiate program in East Carolina.
