Parreira & Tolstova Named MAC Doubles Team of the Week

Freshmen duo clinched the doubles point in both duals last week to help EMU to a 2-0 record
CLEVELAND, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) -- The Mid-American Conference announced its weekly award winners for tennis with the Eastern Michigan University duo of Matilde Parreira and Sabrina Tolstova being named the MAC Doubles Team of the Week, the league office announced, Feb. 16. The freshmen went 2-0 on the weekend at No. 2 doubles to help the Eagles to a pair of road wins and an 8-3 team record in 2026.
Parreira (Leiria, Portugal/Escola Secundária Afonso Lopes) and Tolstova (Odesa, Ukraine/Tennisquick Los Cristianos) won both of their matches at No. 2 doubles on the road with both wins securing the doubles point as well. They opened the weekend with a 6-4 win at DePaul University before claiming a 6-3 win at Butler University one day later. The duo secured the clinching point for the third and fourth times, respectively, grabbing half of the team's eight double points this dual season. They lead the team in doubles wins with 11 on the year, including seven in dual play.
The duo also clinched the overall team wins for the Eagles with their play in singles action. Tolstova was 2-0 on the weekend as she bounced back to claim a 5-7, 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 2 to secure the fourth point in a 4-3 defeat of the Blue Demons. Against the Bulldogs, Tolstova cruised to a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 3 for a 2-0 team lead before Parreira's 6-3, 6-0 win at No. 5 clinched the team win in a 5-2 decision over Butler.
Parreira, Tolstova, and the rest of their teammates are back in action at home this Friday, Feb. 20, when they play host to the Braves of Bradley University in a 1 p.m. match inside the Chippewa Club in Ypsilanti.
