Short-Handed Eastern Falls at Central Michigan

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – Despite the game being tied with 18:56 remaining, the short-handed Eastern Michigan University men's basketball team fell at Central Michigan University, 100-65, Tuesday, Jan. 27, inside McGuirk Arena in Mid-American Conference action.
Mak Manciel (Detroit, Mich./Stevenson/Detroit Mercy) erupted for 15 first-half points, finishing the game with 16 as the Chippewas poured in 62 second-half points.
Gregory Lawson II (Saginaw, Mich./Oak Cliff Academy) netted a career-high 14 points, while Addison Patterson (Mississauga, Ontario/Bella Vista College Prep/Northwestern State) added 16 points.
How It Happened
Eastern held a 12-8 lead before Central's 7-0 run put the hosts ahead, 15-12.
An 11-2 run, capped by a three-pointer by Lawson II, gave EMU a 23-17 lead, its largest of the game.
Eastern led, 31-26, before conceding a 12-5 run to close the first half as Central led, 38-36, at halftime.
After Mohammad Habhab (Dearborn, Mich./Dearborn/Central Michigan) tied the game with a bucket to start the second half, the Chippewas controlled the rest of the game, using a 23-3 run to break away.
CMU scored 62 second-half points while limiting EMU to 29 points in the final 20 minutes as the hosts led by as many as 38 points with 48 seconds to go.
