Four Event Wins Highlight Swim and Dive Loss to Miami

OXFORD, Ohio – (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University swim and dive programs were highlighted by four event wins in their loss to Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, at the Corwin M. Nixon Aquatic Center Friday, Jan. 16. Emma Littrell, Tristen Mina, Nehir Oz, and Marnie Howard all earned event wins.
The RedHawks outscored the Eagles with 178 points to 116 points.
How it Happened: Swim
The Eagles won three events in the pool. Littrell (Taylor Mill, Ky./St. Henry District) took first place in the 200y freestyle with a time of 1:54.46, Oz (Istanbul, Turkey/Cevre) earned her win in the 1000y freestyle with a time of 10:27.38, and Mina (Santa Clara, Calif./The King's Academy) swam the 100y butterfly in 56.84 to take first place.
Littrell and Oz each also swam second place finishes in the 100y freestyle (52.70) and 500y freestyle (5:09.67), respectively. Mina earned a second-place finish in the 200y breaststroke in 2:26.92, along with a third-place finish in the 100y breaststroke, swimming a time of 1:08.87.
Other Eagles who contributed to the list of top three finishes included Nina LaRosa (Bay Village, Ohio/Bay) and Shayne Patrick (Reno, Nev./TMCC Magnet High School). LaRosa earned second place in the 100y breaststroke in 1:06.06, and third place in the 200y breaststroke with a time of 2:28.17. Patrick swam a second-place finish in both the 200y butterfly and 200y individual medley with times of 2:08.05 and 2:12.30, respectively, along with a third-place finish in the 200y freestyle 1:58.69.
How it Happened: Dive
Howard (Bloomington, Ill./Normal Community West) took first place in the one meter dive with a season-best score of 255.20 points, along with a second place finish in the three meter dive, scoring 246.70 points.
Also earning a top three finish in the three meter was Aisling Gutierrez (New Kent, Va./New Kent), scoring 245.30 points.
