YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) -- The Eastern Insider Podcast kicked off Season 8 with a Texas sized opener, setting the tone for another year of all access coverage. Host Greg Steiner welcomed Head Coach Chris Creighton, who enters his 12th season at EMU with 51 new faces on the roster and the challenge of preparing for Texas State under the San Marcos lights. Creighton emphasized the team's depth, energy, and commitment to building culture even as they adjust to the modern transfer era landscape.
Creighton made it clear how much the team is looking forward to Saturday: "It's finally game week. I love camp, though, too… but there's definitely a flip of the switch." He also highlighted one of the Eagles' biggest strengths heading into 2025: "We have quality depth at most every spot on the field."
Graduate assistant and new podcast contributor Elena Davis joined the show to highlight EMU women's soccer, sitting down with senior Hannah Thompson. Thompson reflected on her four year journey, saying, "Super exciting. I've been here since freshman year, so I've made a lot of connections… and it's been amazing. I wouldn't change it." She also shared her surprising background as a high school football kicker: "I was the kicker my senior year… full pads, I had to wear a helmet. Didn't know how to put it on."
With soccer, volleyball, cross country, and football all opening their seasons, the episode captured the excitement and momentum across Ypsilanti.
