The award is presented annually to one male and one female student-athlete from each of the 12 conference member institutions

CLEVELAND, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) – Eastern Michigan University student-athletes Logan Hugo and Raisa Boris will be presented with the Medal of Excellence Award during the 2025 Honors Dinner Ceremony at the Cleveland Marriott Downtown at Key Tower as part of Mid-American Conference (MAC) Spring Meetings Thursday, May 29.

The Medal of Excellence is presented annually to one male and one female student-athlete from the graduating class of each of the 12 conference member institutions.

To receive the Medal of Excellence Award, student-athletes must have participated at the varsity level in a Conference-sponsored sport, maintained a minimum 3.50 cumulative GPA, and demonstrated excellence in athletics, leadership, and service. Honorees are selected by their respective institutions.

Hugo (Essexville, Mich./Essexville Garber) was a four-year member of the EMU baseball team while Boris (Brooklyn Park, Minn./Park Center) was a five-year member of the EMU gymnastics team.

Hugo produced the best season of his career in 2025, which included a .308 batting average, 12 home runs, 62 RBI, and 17 stolen bases. Hugo's 62 RBI rank as the eighth-most for a single season in program history. The senior was named Second-Team All-MAC after reaching base at a career-high .416 clip in 2025. His 32 career home runs are tied for fifth in program history while his 138 RBI (7th), 148 runs scored (9th), and 48 stolen bases (15th) also rank among the program's top career marks.

Boris posted a 39.025 all-around score, highlighted by her 9.800 bars routine at the 2025 NCAA Regionals, April 3. The senior closed her career with her ninth all-around showing of at least 39.000 in 2025. Boris tallied at least 9.700 in all four events for the sixth time last season. Boris, who also qualified in 2024, was the first Eagle to qualify for NCAA Regionals in all-around in back-to-back seasons since Emili Dobronics did so in 2018 and 2019. Boris was recognized as the MAC's Senior Gymnast of the Year for the second-straight season, in addition to being named Second-Team All-MAC.

"These Medal of Excellence recipients truly embody what it means to be a MAC student-athlete," said MAC Commissioner Jon Steinbrecher. "Their accomplishments in the classroom and in competition, along with their leadership and community involvement, reflect their outstanding character and dedication. We are honored to recognize them and the meaningful difference they make both on campus and beyond."
