Beckner Earns MAC All-Tournament Team Nod

AVON, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) – Eastern Michigan University baseball student-athlete Drew Beckner landed a spot on the 2025 MAC Baseball Championship Team, the conference announced Sunday, May 25.
Beckner (Westerville, Ohio/Big Walnut/Charleston) earned the accolade after recording a tournament-high eight strikeouts in Eastern's 10-7 extra-innings upset win over the four seed, Bowling Green State University, May 22, a win that punched the Eagles' ticket to the second round and marked their first postseason victory since 2017.
Besides the strikeouts, Beckner put together a gritty start while battling inclement weather. He went six innings and allowed three runs off five hits while his pitch count well exceeded the triple-digit mark, leading EMU to its first postseason upset since it upset No. 2 Central Michigan University in the second game of a semifinal doubleheader, 4-2, May 27, 2017.
Moreover, his eight strikeouts were tied with three other occasions for the second-most he has had in a game this season, trailing only the 10-strikeout game he had at the University at Albany, April 17. The eight punchouts also went down as the first time an Eastern Michigan pitcher struck out at least eight batters in a MAC Tournament game since Brad Allen struck eight against Northern Illinois University, May 25, 2017.
As a team, Beckner led a pitching staff that posted the second-lowest ERA (5.54) and allowed the second-least runs (19), earned runs (16), and hits (31).
Overall, he is the program's 26th all-tournament player and first since the 2017 season when Davis Feldman, Nick Jones, and the Oakland Athletics' Max Schuemann made the squad.
