Brichackova & Vichare Repeat as MAC Award Winners

Seniors dropped just two games all weekend on their way to earning back-to-back honors
CLEVELAND, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) -- For the second consecutive week, the Mid-American Conference announced its weekly tennis awards with Eastern Michigan University tennis seniors Sabina Brichackova and Prerna Vichare being named the MAC Doubles Team of the Week following another dominating performance. The duo, who also earned the honor April 7, has won four consecutive matches at No. 1 doubles.
Brichackova (Cheb, Czechia/Gymnázium Jana Blahoslava) and Vichare (Mumbai, India/Narsee Monjee College of Commerce and Economics) had a solid Senior Weekend as the duo dropped just two games in sweeping their opponents at No. 1 doubles and helping EMU to a pair of 5-2 wins. In the opener, the duo blanked the Northern Illinois University team of Erika Dimitriev and Nataly Ninova (April 11), 6-0, to secure the first half of the doubles point. Then, on Senior Day (April 13), they combined for a 6-2 win over Isabella Baker and Tia Clemens for the first half of the doubles point as well. All told, the duo has now won 44 times together with Brichackova's 62 career doubles wins ranking 16th all-time at EMU, and Vichare's 60 wins not only tying for 19th all-time but also making her just the 20th Eagle to win 60+ doubles matches in a career.
The doubles award marks the second earned by the Eastern Michigan pair this season and the third overall after the rookie team of Iva Daneva (Kavadarci, North Macedonia/DSU Sportska Akademija) and Viki Hazmukova (Skvorec, Czechia/Skoly Brezova) earned the honor Jan. 27 after going 2-0 on the road at the University of Cincinnati and the University of Dayton.
The Eagles will play their final match of the season Friday, April 18, with a 1 p.m. contest at Ball State University. The Eagles and Cardinals will play in Muncie, Ind., on the final day of the regular season for all MAC teams.
