YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) -- The College Sports Communicators (CSC) announced its annual CSC Academic All-District® Women's Basketball teams, March 25, with three members of the Eastern Michigan University program being recognized for the efforts both on and off the courts. The three Eagles honored included Mackenzie Amalia, Elena Cabello, and Olivia Westphal.

The 2024-25 Academic All-District® Women's Basketball teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. To be eligible, a student-athlete must be a sophomore or later and carry a minimum grade-point average of 3.50 or higher academically while either appearing in 90 percent of the team's games or starting in 66 percent of the team's contests. All told, 436 NCAA Division I student-athletes were recognized this season.

Amalia (Beaver Falls, Pa./Blackhawk/Canisius) had her name added to the district list for the third consecutive year and with the third different school as she was recognized following the 2022-23 season while playing for Robert Morris University before being honored at Canisius University last year (2023-24). Amalia, who transferred to EMU following the hiring of her CU coach Sahar Nusseibeh, was the floor general for the Eagles as she started 20 of the 21 games she played after being limited by an injury. While on the court, the gerontology major led the team and ranked fifth nationally with 37.4 minutes played per game while scoring 9.3 points, pulling down 2.2 rebounds, and posting a team-best 4.6 assists. She opened her time at EMU in a big way as she posted 12 assists in her debut against Texas State University on her way to dishing at least three assists in 17-of-21 games played. She tallied a season-high 19 points against Central Michigan University (Jan. 18) after twice scoring 18 points, first at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (Dec. 19) and then again at Ball State University (Jan. 8).

Cabello (Malaga, Spain/IES Mediterraneo) appeared in all 29 games in 2024-25 and was in the starting lineup 20 times. The Spaniard averaged 3.5 points, 2.7 rebounds, 0.6 assists, 0.5 steals, and 0.2 blocks per game while averaging nearly 1.0 offensive rebounds per game as well. Cabello averaged 17.4 minutes per game and was fourth on the team in shooting as she drained 41.2 percent of her shots while scoring 101 points on the season, an improvement of 63 points from her first year with the team. Cabello posted a career-high 13 points against Ball State University, Feb. 15, as she also tallied career-bests in field-goals made (five), three-pointers made (three), and assists (three), while playing a career-high 34 minutes.

Westphal (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park/Duquesne) started all 28 games she played (missed one game because of injury) this season and was the team's top three-point threat as she drained 60 triples one year removed from hitting 26. The graduate student and soon-to-be two-time graduate of EMU averaged 30.6 minutes per game and scored 8.2 points per game, a clip that included 2.1 three-pointers per contest, which ranked among the top 10 in the Mid-American Conference. Westphal, whose deep shooting led the team to 217 three-pointers on the year, the fourth-most in a single season in program history, made two or more three-point baskets in 18-of-28 games played while connecting on three or more in nine contests after doing so just five times previously in her career.
