Gymnastics Competing at MAC Championships Saturday

MT. PLEASANT, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) - The Eastern Michigan University gymnastics team will compete in the Mid-American Conference Championships Saturday, March 22, at 2 p.m., hosted by Central Michigan University.
Eastern is expected to compete on bars in Rotation 1, beam in Rotation 2, floor in Rotation 4, and vault in Rotation 6. The Eagles will enjoy breaks in Rotations 3, 5, and 7.

TRIO OF EAGLES ALL-MAC: Raisa Boris (First Team, Beam), Alana Fisher (Second Team, Beam), and Kyrie Lowe (Second Team, Bars) were all named All-MAC. The trio of Eagles marks the first time Eastern has had three student-athletes recognized as All-MAC in the same season since the 2015 campaign. In 2015, Anna Willette, Chantelle Loehner, and Kendall Valentin received all-conference honors. Boris is the eighth different Eagle to be named All-MAC First Team.
BEAM QUEENS: Eastern tops the MAC in beam with a 48.970 NQS as the Eagles hold three of the top four individual spots. All-around Raisa Boris leads the MAC (9.850 NQS) while Alana Fisher (9.450 NQS) ranks second, and Ella Chemotti (9.835 NQS) is fourth in the conference.
FISHY ON BEAM: Senior Alana Fisher recorded a career-high 9.875 on beam, Feb. 27, before equaling that mark, March 9, and earning her first career event win on beam. Fisher has produced six-straight beam efforts of at least 9.800. Prior to this season, the vault and floor specialist had only competed on beam twice, March 9, 2024 (9.750) and March 23, 2024 (9.200). Fisher's 9.845 NQS ranks second in the conference, behind only teammate Raisa Boris.
ABBY BRUSHWOOD GREAT STRETCH: Sophomore Abby Brushwood has produced an impressive stretch on floor. She topped the floor scores, March 9, with a 9.875 mark. Brushwood's career-high 9.900 won the floor competition, Feb. 27, as the sophomore has won the event in back-to-back meets after tallying a then-career-high 9.875 at Central Michigan, Feb. 14.
Through March 14, Brushwood has scored 9.800 or higher in nine-straight meets on floor, tallying a 9.850 or higher in six of those nine meets. In the meet, Feb. 27, Brushwood also put up a solid 9.800 on vault, the second-best mark of her career in the event.
ANALIAH SOLORIO ON BARS: Analiah Solorio has provided EMU with a solid presence on bars, scoring 9.800 five times during her freshman season, which included doing so four times in the final five meets. Solorio also gained experience on beam, scoring as high as 9.775 while earning four scores of 9.750 or better throughout the season.
RAISA BORIS SEASON-BEST ALL-AROUND: Senior Raisa Boris registered a season-best 39.300 all-around score, Feb. 27, which is tied for the 19th-best mark in program history. Boris earned her fifth all-around win of the season and scored 9.750 or better in all four events, highlighted by season-high 9.875 efforts on beam and floor. Boris also produced a season-high 9.800 on vault.
SEASON-HIGH 195.775, FEB. 27: Helped by a season-high 49.200 mark on beam and a season-high 49.025 on floor, Eastern produced a season-best 195.775, Feb. 27. Eastern's 48.825 on vault is its second-best of the season while its 48.725 marks its third-best bars score of the season.
LAST TIME AT CENTRAL MICHIGAN: Senior Ella Chemotti posted a 9.925 on beam, the program's fourth-best score ever in the event, and sophomore Abby Brushwood continued her superb efforts on floor, posting a then-career-high 9.875 as the Eastern Michigan University gymnastics team fell against Central Michigan Friday, Feb. 14, 195.625-194.150.
MORE ON CHEMOTTI AT CENTRAL MICHIGAN: With her 9.925 on beam, senior Ella Chemotti became the first gymnast in EMU history to have four scores of 9.925 or higher on beam in her career as her 9.925 Friday is tied for the fourth-best mark in program history in the event, falling .025 points shy of her career high 9.950, set in 2022. Chemotti has achieved at least a 9.925 in four different seasons, becoming the first Eagle ever to do so on beam and joins Natalie Hashimoto as Eagles to do so in any event. Chemotti helped Eastern totaled 49.025 on beam, its top mark in any event this season.
KNOCKED OFF THE PRESEASON FAVORITES: In addition to topping Northern Illinois and Winona State, Eastern Michigan narrowly edged MAC preseason favorite Ball State, 195.125-195.000, Jan. 17, at the Golden Girls Classic before besting the Cardinals again, 195.475-194.550, March 14.
PICKED FIFTH IN THE MAC: The Eagles were picked to finish fifth in the MAC, as revealed by the conference office, Jan. 3.

4-0 FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE...?: After topping Bowling Green, Jan. 12, and earning three wins at the Golden Girls Classic, Eastern Michigan started 4-0 for the first time since at least 2001
BEST SEASON-OPENING SCORE SINCE...?: Against Bowling Green, Jan. 12, Eastern Michigan posted a 194.925 in the season opener, marking its best score in a season-opening competition since at least the 2002 season.
The Eagles' 194.925 narrowly edged their season-opening 194.875 score against Bowling Green, Jan. 11, 2020, and at Pittsburgh, Jan. 10, 2016.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS: Central Michigan tops the MAC with a 195.665 NQS, ranking 36th in the nation while Kent State (43rd, 195.510), Ball State (45th, 195.455), and Western Michigan (46th, 195.405) are close behind. Eastern is fifth in the MAC (51st, 194.780).
Western leads the MAC on vault (37th, 48.940 NQS) as Eastern ranks last in the conference that event (57th, 48.575 NQS).
On bars, Central tops the conference (27th, 49.135 NQS) while Eastern ranks fifth (50th, 48.690 NQS).
For beam, Eastern is leading the MAC (37th, 48.970 NQS) as the Eagles' Raisa Boris, Alana Fisher, and Ella Chemotti all rank in the conference's top four.

RAI'S AWARD COLLECTION: Senior gymnast Raisa Boris earned MAC Gymnast of the Week honors four times in 2024, in addition to earning the recognition twice this season. Against Kent State, March 3, she contributed to the Eagles' 196.450 team score (good for third all-time). Additionally, the senior was honored with the MAC Scholar-Athlete title twice in 2024 and once in 2025 for her efforts both in the gym and the classroom.
Boris was named both the MAC Gymnast of the Year as well as the Senior Gymnast of the Year after an incredible senior season (electing to use her COVID season of eligibility for 2025). The last time an Eagle was named the Gymnast of the Year and Senior Gymnast of the Year was when Jolene Worley won both titles in the 2008 campaign. Additionally, Boris is just the fourth different Eagle to win the overall honor and the seventh to earn the Senior Gymnast title.
TRUE ALL-AROUNDER: Senior Raisa Boris earned a career-high 39.525 all-around score at KSU, March 3., 2024. Her score is good for second in EMU program history, behind Natalie Hashimoto's 39.725 (2000). The Eagles had yet to see a gymnast hit anything close to Boris' score since the 2021 season when Jada Rondeau scored a 39.475.
ELLA CHEMOTTI, BEAM CHAMP: As just the fifth MAC beam champion in school history, senior Ella Chemotti is the first to earn the title on the apparatus since 1998 when former Eagle JJ Cullom took the top spot with a 9.850. During the regular season, Chemotti continued to hold the top spot in the beam event as she led the MAC in the category for three consecutive years. Additionally, with her three straight first team honors, the 2022 MAC Freshman of the Year became the first EMU gymnast in program history (regular season All-MAC selections started in 2013) to secure the first team three-peat. Chemotti, who ranks fourth in the MAC on beam, was just short of making the All-MAC teams this season.
FRESH FACES: Eastern Michigan has six new faces ahead of the 2025 season. All six of the newcomers are freshmen and include Sanai Evans (Norcross, Ga.), Keeley Kohler (Davison, Mich.), Brianna Lucas (Marietta, Ga.), Elise Ritzenthaler (Quinlan, Texas), Analiah Solorio (Littleton, Colo.), and Jaelyn Stetz (Moorhead, Minn.).
ON THE HORIZON: Select student-athletes will compete in the NCAA Regionals, April 2-6, at one of four possible locations including Salt Lake City, Utah, Seattle, Wash., Tuscaloosa, Ala., and University Park, Pa. This season's NCAA Championships is set to be held at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas, April 17-19.
