Eagles return home Saturday, Feb. 8, at 2 p.m. against Old Dominion

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University men's basketball team fell to Kent State University, 70-49, Tuesday, Feb. 4, inside the George Gervin GameAbove Center.

The Eagles trailed by just three points on three occurrences before the Golden Flashes pulled away.

Seniors Yusuf Jihad (Farmington Hills, Mich./North Farmington/Oakland) and Jalen Terry (Flint, Mich./Beecher/Oregon/DePaul) each scored 10 points while Christian Henry (Chicago, Ill./The Skill Factory/Panola College) also scored 10 points.

How it Happened
Kent State scored the game's first six points, opening the game on a 13-2 run.

After a 7-0 Eastern spurt, the Golden Flashes netted the next eight points to lead 21-9 before the Eagles posted another 7-0 spurt to cut the deficit to 21-16. KSU responded with a 7-0 run to push its lead back out to 12, settling for a 33-24 halftime lead.
Eastern started out the second half on a strong 9-3 run to come within three. 

The Golden Flashes rallied with a 25-8 spurt to take their largest lead of the contest at 66-44 with 3:30 remaining prior to the contest's final buzzer.

Game Notes
» Eastern moved to 10-12 overall and 4-6 in the MAC while Kent State moved to 14-8 overall and 5-5 in conference action.
» Eastern Michigan was 17-of-60  (28.3%) from the floor and 6-of-23 (26.1%) from three-point range while Kent State was 27-of-61 (44.3%) from the field and 7-of-18 (38.9%) from deep.
» Nelson added a career-high four blocks, marking his third-straight game with multiple blocks. The Toledo native has seven-straight games with at least one block, the longest streak of his career.
» Nelson's four blocks are the most by an Eagle since Mo Njie registered four rejections at Buffalo, Feb. 8, 2022.
» Adding in his four assists, Nelson is the first Eagle to record at least four assists and four blocks in the same game since at least the 2001-02 season.
» Terry, the MAC leader in minutes at 36.6 minutes per game, tallied a season-high 39 minutes.
» With two made three-pointers, Henry has converted at least one three-pointer in each of the last 17 games, making multiple triples in nine-straight games.
» Henry, who scored 10 points, has 10-consecutive games with at least 10 points.
» Arne Osojnik (Ljubljana, Slovenia/Dream City Christian) matched his career high with four steals for the second time in his career with the other occurrence being at Houston Christian, Nov. 25.
» Eastern posted eight blocks, marking 17-straight games with at least one block, the team's longest streak since blocking at least one shot in every game during the 2021-22 season.
» The Eagles' eight blocks are their most since tallying eight against Central Michigan, March 8.

Historical Notes
» EMU moved to 36-50 against Kent State.
» Eastern, which hit six threes against Kent State, has now hit at least one triple in 635-straight games. EMU last failed to score from downtown Jan. 24, 2004, when Miami University held the Eagles to 0-of-7 from behind the arc. The Eagles have converted multiple three-pointers in 57-straight contests, not having done so most recently in a 1-for-15 performance against Akron, Feb.14, 2023.
