YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – The rivalry between Eastern Michigan University, Central Michigan University, and Western Michigan University will enter a new arena starting Oct. 31 as the three Mid-American Conference institutions will battle one another in the 2025 MAC Rivalry Canned Food Drive. The event, which saw the Eagles defeat the University at Buffalo last year, will pit each school against one another for bragging rights for who can bring in the most canned goods during a time in the year when student need increases.

Running from Oct. 31 through Nov. 24, the schools in the MAC will be grouped into rivalries, with each school's student-athlete advisory council (SAAC) leading the way on its respective campus to defeat its rivals for a great cause. In addition to canned donations, interested supporters can donate monetarily with $1 equaling one can donated. To donate a monetary value in support of the Eagles, visit the following link: DONATE HERE.

All donations will once again go to Swoop's Pantry on campus and assist students in need throughout the year. Numerous locations around campus are prepared to accept can donations with collection bins placed throughout, including the George Gervin GameAbove Center and the Incarnati Athletic Center on the athletics campus along with main campus spots inside Bowen Field House (SASS offices), the student center, the REC/IM building, the student center, and several housing locations including the Westview and Lakeview apartments and the main room at The Village.

With basketball season right around the corner, fans can earn a free ticket to the EMU men's game with visiting Indiana University Indianapolis, Nov. 14, at 6:30 p.m. inside the George Gervin GameAbove Center by donating cans at the Nov. 8 football game against Bowling Green State University. Fans who bring five canned goods to the game with the Falcons, which kicks off at 1 p.m. inside Rynearson Stadium, will earn one free ticket to the Nov. 14 basketball game. Fans are encouraged to arrive to the game so they can donate their cans at Gate 1, located by the George Gervin statue, and receive their voucher for the basketball ticket.

Fans and student-athletes will have numerous opportunities to bring their canned goods to home competitions, starting Oct. 31, when the swimming & diving team hosts the University of Akron in Jones Natatorium on campus. Here is a list of the games/competitions for which canned goods can be donated throughout the end of the year, with EMU and Kroger joining forces to collect donations through December.
