Football Lands 16 on Academic All-MAC Team

Getzinger honored for the fourth time in his career
CLEVELAND, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University football team placed 16 student-athletes on the 2024 Academic All-Mid-American Conference Football Team, the conference office announced today, Jan. 16. A total of 202 student-athletes from around the conference earned the distinction.
The Academic All-MAC honor is for a student-athlete who has excelled in athletics and academics. To qualify, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests for that particular sport.
The Eagles honored included Deion Brown (St. Louis, Mo./Kirkwood), Blake Daniels (Macomb, Mich./L'Anse Creuse North/Davenport), Mitchell Dietzel (Burlington, Wis./Catholic Central), Carter Evans (Crystal Lake, Ill./Prairie Ridge), Nicholas Gallegos (Naperville, Ill./Neuqua Valley), Jere Getzinger (West Branch, Mich./Ogemaw Heights), Kendric Nowling (Chicago, Ill./Marist), Max Reese (Chicago, Ill./Fenwick), Mickey Rewolinski (Caledonia, Wis./Union Grove), Broderick Roman (Lansing, Mich./Okemos), Quentavius Scandrett (Lovejoy, Ga./Lovejoy), Dennis Strey Jr. (Paw Paw, Mich./Paw Paw), Mitchell Tomasek (Columbus, Ohio/Worthington Kilbourne), Daniel Warnsman (Dublin, Ohio/Dublin Coffman), Jamarien Wheeler (Minneapolis, Minn./Washburn/Iowa Central), and Joey Zelinsky (Cressona, Pa./Blue Mountain/Hudson Valley CC).
