Eagles held the Bulls scoreless until the 73rd minute
AMHERST, N.Y. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision at unbeaten University at Buffalo Sunday, Sept. 22, in Mid-American Conference play at UB Stadium.
The Eagles held Buffalo, which is one of the nation's 15 remaining undefeated teams, scoreless through 72 minutes of action.
How It Happened
After a scoreless first half, the Bulls nearly found the first goal of the match in the opening minute of the second half but redshirt sophomore Scarlett Thomas (Sterling Heights, Mich./Utica Academy/Missouri) cleared the ball off the goal line before Buffalo had a shot clank off the post in the 61st minute.
After junior Hannah Thompson (Schoolcraft, Mich./Schoolcraft) earned a corner kick in the 68th minute, redshirt freshman Josie Langhans (Sun Prairie, Wis./Sun Prairie West) had a shot from eight yards out fly wide of the left post.
Holland (Dunwoody, Ga./Dunwoody/Samford) made a diving save in the 69th minute to keep the match level before the Bulls ultimately secured the game winner in the 73rd minute.
Buffalo led in shots by a 18-10 margin while leading in corners by a 5-4 margin.

» Holland was credited with a season-high nine saves, one shy of her career high of 10, set Oct. 1, 2023, against Buffalo.
» Sophomore Sarah Van Euwen (Avon Lake, Ohio/Avon Lake) and Thomas each played 90 minutes, marking Van Euwen's eighth full game of the season and Thomas' fifth.
