CHICAGO, Ill. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University soccer team was edged by Loyola University Chicago, 1-0, Sunday, Sept. 15, at Loyola Soccer Park.

Redshirt sophomore Ella Holland (Dunwoody, Ga./Dunwoody/Samford) was credited with a save just 90 seconds into the contest on a shot from seven yards out.

EMU generated a solid chance exactly midway through the first half as sophomore Kate Robinson's (Madison Heights, Mich./Lamphere) found the head of sophomore Olivia Sipsock (Medina, Ohio/Medina) but the attempt from eight yards out sailed just over the crossbar.
Loyola scored the lone goal of the match in the 31st minute.
Sophomore Sophia Baumann (Romeo, Mich./Romeo) had another chance for EMU but her shot from 10 yards out in the 37th minute was saved before junior Hannah Thompson (Schoolcraft, Mich./Schoolcraft) had a shot saved from 20 yards out in the 40th minute. Thompson also had a header go over the bar in the 75th minute.
Loyola led in shots by a 13-11 margin and led in corners by a 6-4 margin.
Game Notes
» Eastern moved to 4-3-0 on the year while Loyola Chicago moved to 5-2-1.
» Holland made six saves, her 12th career match with at least five saves and her third-such match this season.
» For the first time this season, no Eagle field players played all 90 minutes. Holland has played every minute in goal for EMU this season.
» Freshman Emily Kolodin (Grand Blanc, Mich./Grand Blanc) made her first career appearance, seeing four minutes of action.
