The honor marks the first of Jones' career, and 18th-consecutive season the Eagles have earned at least one all-conference nod

CLEVELAND, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) – Eastern Michigan University Baseball student-athlete Bobby Jones was tabbed All-MAC Second Team, as the conference office announced its postseason awards and All-MAC honors for the 2024 regular season Tuesday, May 21.

The accolade marks the first of Jones' (Loveland, Ohio/St. Xavier/Xavier) career, and the 18th-consecutive season Eastern has seen at least one Eagle earn an all-conference nod.

"We are excited for Bobby and this recognition. It has been incredibly fulfilling for us to watch his growth as both a person and as a pitcher. We look forward to Bobby continuing to lead our pitching staff as we progress into next season," said Head Coach Robbie Britt

"{There is} no one more deserving than Bobby Jones, he was called upon in many tough situations and was the same guy every single time. He was our most reliable guy throughout the season, and answered every time we called upon him. {I} couldn't be happier with his efforts and perseverance throughout the year," said Eagles' Assistant Coach/Pitching, Craig Prince.

At one point this season, Jones ranked inside the top-10 nationally in both strikeout-to-walk ratio and walks allowed per nine innings, slotting seventh in strikeout-to-walk (7.86), April 17, and ninth in walks allowed per nine, issuing just 1.05 every nine frames, April 3.

Additionally, Jones ranked highly in the conference leaderboards. His 86 innings pitched stood as the most in the MAC, while his five wins ranked as the third-most in the league, and his 79 strikeouts slotted as the fourth-most.

Serving as Eastern's Friday starter for the season, the 6-foot-5 right-hander paced EMU hurlers nearly across the board. He led the team in ERA (6.28), WHIP (1.31), wins (five), IP (86.0), and strikeouts (79), while allowing the lowest walk total of all starting arms, issuing 24, and posting the second-best batting average against as he held opponents to a .255 clip.

The senior set season-long career-highs across the board, as the 2024 campaign served as his first assuming a starting role. On top of season-long career-best, Jones posted single-game career-highs in strikeouts (10), April 13 and IP (8.0), March 23. Furthermore, his 10 strikeouts stood as the most from an Eagle in 2024.

In his final start of the year, he tossed the first complete game of his career, as he went the distance for eight innings, allowing two earned runs against Northern Illinois University, May 16.
