Kendal Bonney Earns AVCA Demonstrators Scholarship

LEXINGTON, Ky. (EMUEagles.com) – Eastern Michigan volleyball student-athlete Kendal Bonney has been awarded the Demonstrators Scholarship by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA), the organization announced Wednesday, Oct. 30.
As a demonstrator, Bonney (Pioneer, Ohio/North Central/Ashland) will head to the annual AVCA Convention in Louisville, Ky., where she will join 31 others to serve as demonstrators for on-court educational sessions during the event. One of the factors in the selection of the demonstrators was their interest in pursuing a coaching career.
Overall, the AVCA is bringing 83 scholarship individuals to its 2024 convention. Outside of the Demonstrators Scholarship, the organization will host 33 volleyball leaders who earned the Diversity Award and 18 coaches who collected the Coaches 4 Coaches Award.
The recognition comes as Bonney is in the midst of a career season as the junior has already notched season-long career-highs in kills (144), total blocks (42), digs (52), assists (three), and points (167.0). Bonney has recorded single-game career-best figures with 13 kills against George Washington (Sept. 6) and eight digs versus Marshall (Sept. 7). She also tied her career-bests with five blocks each against George Washington and Valparaiso (Aug. 31).
