YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) –
The Eastern Michigan University tennis team is set to compete in five events this fall, first-year Head Coach Ryan Kucera announced today, Sept. 7. The Eagles will open the fall with their Green and White Scrimmage, Sept. 23, before competing in four events in the region.

"Our fall schedule provides some excellent opportunities for our student-athletes to compete and develop," Kucera said. "Our Green and White scrimmage presents a fun opportunity for our fans to see this talented group in action in advance of the season. From there, we are starting off strong with the ISU Invite. There will be a plethora of strong teams there and our players will be hungry to get out and test themselves right away. The ITA regional is another great experience for our athletes. It's an exciting opportunity to compete against the best players in the Midwest Region. Overall, I'm excited for our team to take advantage of these opportunities to compete relentlessly, build confidence in our system, and develop their individual games throughout the semester."

The 2023-24 Eagles will debut their nine-member roster Saturday, Sept. 23, with the Green and White Scrimmage. The intrasquad event is set to get underway at 10 a.m. at the Chippewa Club, the home of EMU Tennis. One week later, the team will venture to Normal, Ill., to take part in the Illinois State Invitational, Sept. 29-Oct. 1.

The biggest event of the fall comes in the middle of October as Eastern will send qualified student-athletes to compete in the ITA Midwest Regional Championships, Oct. 12-16. The event, which will be hosted by Michigan State University in East Lansing, Mich., is one of 14 regional competitions throughout the nation. The singles and doubles champions, along with the runners-up in each respective event, will advance to the ITA National Fall Championships, Nov. 1-5, in San Diego, Calif.

Following the regional event, the Eagles will travel to Cleveland, Ohio, to take part in the Cleveland State University Invitational, Oct. 20-22. The last event of the fall comes Nov. 10-12 in Kalamazoo, Mich., at the Western Michigan University Invitational. More information on each event, including participating teams, will be made available closer to each event.
