Track and Field Lands Nine on USTFCCCA All-American List

Both the men and women teams were selected, along with nine individual student-athletes

NEW ORLEANS, La. (EMUEagles.com) — The Eastern Michigan University track & field programs earned United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic honors for the indoor and outdoor track & field seasons, the organization announced today, July 13. Both teams, as well as nine total individuals, received all-academic distinction.

To earn USTFCCCA Team All-Academic honors, the cumulative grade-point average of all student-athletes on the institution's NCAA Squad List for Indoor and/or Outdoor Track & Field must be 3.0-or-higher on a 4.0 scale. The women's team notched a cumulative team grade-point average of 3.442, while the men achieved a GPA of 3.331.

The criteria to be named an all-academic athlete, individuals must have a grade point average of 3.25 on a 4.0 scale (including the most recent grading period) and completed at least two semesters or three quarters at the nominating institution. Additionally, for the indoor season, student-athletes must have finished the season ranked in the top 96 in any championship individual event, or in the top 48 in any championship relay event, for the most recent indoor season, certifiable by their place on final season performance lists on TFRRS for Indoor Track and Field (including performances achieved outside the qualifying window during the indoor season). Lastly, for the outdoor season, student-athletes must have participated in any round of the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships (the Preliminary Championship Competition and/or the Final Championship Competition) or for the multi-events, must have finished the season ranked in the top 48 in the East or top 48 in the West for the most recent outdoor season, certifiable by their place on the NCAA Division I.

Eight members of the men's team garnered All-Academic honors this season as Toby Gualter (Tawa, New Zealand/Tawa College), Brendan Hill (Huber Heights, Ohio/Wayne), Dante Lander (Dayton, Ohio/West Carrelton/Central Michigan), Baldvin Magnusson (Akureyri, Iceland/Hull University), Callum Robinson (Goderich, Ontario/St. Anne's Catholic Secondary School/Simon Fraser), Richie Sadler (Greenville, S.C./Greer-Coastal Carolina), Kaleb Simpson (Bexley, Ohio/St. Charles Prepatory), Newlyn Stephenson (Gary, Ind./Thea Bowman Leadership Academy), and Almighty Williamson (Baltimore, M.D./Digital Harbor/Barton C.C.) were all selected.

Miranda Cadwell (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield South) was the lone individual selection from the women's team this time around.
