YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) - The Eastern Michigan rowing team will appear in two competitions this upcoming weekend, April 15-16. 

ON THE SCHEDULE: EMU's First and Second Varsity Eight boats, along with the Varsity Four, will head east to compete in the Knecht Cup, April 15-16, on the Cooper River in Cherry Hill, N.J. The Third Varsity Eight squad will race Michigan State University's Spartan Invitational on Lake Ovid at Sleepy Hollow State Park in Laingsburg, Mich., April 15. 

KNECHT CUP: A renowned regatta, the Knecht Cup is celebrating its 20th anniversary with two days of competition this weekend. Eastern Michigan's three competing boats will be the school's first appearance at the event in program history. 

The cup will see more than 300 boats race from 52 teams across the nation in all three NCAA divisions. Along with EMU, Colonial Athletic Association foes University of Connecticut, University of Delaware, Drexel University, Monmouth University and Villanova University will all compete.

SPARTAN INVITATIONAL: At this year's Spartan Invitational, five schools will compete in 20 different races on Michigan State's Lake Ovid. The University of Miami, Temple University and Tulsa University, along with host MSU, are all set to appear . 

The Green and White's Third Varsity Eight boat will compete in two 2,000 kilometer races, the first at 9:30 a.m. and the second coming at 12:10 p.m. Eastern Michigan last saw the Spartans in a scrimmage this past fall where nine Eagle boats raced on MSU's Grand River, Oct. 9. 

LAST TIME OUT: The Eagles raced against Boston College and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology on the Charles River, April 8. The Green and White's Third Varsity Eight squad took third out of four with a time of 8:26.3 while the First and Second Varsity Eights, along with the Varsity Four, finished last in their respective races. 

ON THE HORIZON: After this weekend's regatta, Eastern Michigan will take part in the George Mason University Invitational on the Occoquan Reservoir, April 23, in Fairfax Station, Va.
