Swim Finishes Final Day at Denison Invitational

GRANVILLE, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University swim team completed the three-day Denison Invite, hosted by Denison University at the Trumbull Aquatic Center, tonight, Dec. 2. The Eagles finished in fourth place, scoring 1,235.5 points.
Kiersten Russell (Clinton, Mich./Saline) secured an EMU season-best time in the 200-yard backstroke, finishing sixth in 2:02.09.
The Eagles then collected a bulk of their points in the 100y freestyle, where freshman Marlee Christie (Seminole, Fla./Seminole) clocked both a personal-best and EMU season-best in the event, finishing in 50.97. The freshman trio of Lucy Noble (Flagler Beach, Fla./Flagler Palm Coast), Emma Littrell (Taylor Mill, Ky./St. Henry District), and Sophie Gatrall (Windsor, Ontario/Tecumseh Vista Academy) each secured personal best time with Noble swimming the distance in 52.11, Littrell completing the event in 51.79 and Gatrall doing so in 53.07.
Abby Szadorski (Oswego, Ill./Oswego East) was EMU's top finisher in the 200 breaststroke as she finished in 2:17.10 for a third place finish. Tristen Mina (Santa Clara, Calif./The King's Academy) and Nina LaRosa (Bay Village, Ohio/Bay) each tabbed personal-bests in 2:23.21 and 2:23.10, respectively.
In the 200y butterfly, Olivia Clarino (Toronto, Ontario/Lawrence Park Collegiate) showed out as she swam a PR and season-best for the Eagles as a team, placing fourth in 2:04.41, Clarino was immediately followed by Katarina Pastar (Vienna, Austria/Gymnasium) who also set a PR in 2:05.45, placing fifth.
Sydney Ulmer (York, Pa./Central York/Savannah College of Art and Design) and Maren Romine (San Antonio, Texas/International School of the Americas) joined Clarino and Pastar as they too carved out personal-bests in 2:08.75 and 2:10.58, respectively.
The meet concluded with the 400y freestyle relay where the EMU A team of Christie, Noble, Littrell and Russell placed fifth in an EMU season-fastest 3:28.47.
