Swim Wraps Up Day Two at Denison Invitational

The Eagles remain in fourth place with 786.5 points
GRANVILLE, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University swim team completed its second day at the Denison Invitational hosted by Denison University at the Trumbull Aquatic Center today, Dec. 1. The Eagles remain in fourth place with and currently stand with 786.5 points.
Eastern got the scoring started in the first event of the finals, placing sixth in the 200-yard medley relay in a season-best time, 1:44.20. Together, the team of Siporah Sang (London, Ontario/Sir Fredrick Banting Secondary), Nina LaRosa (Bay Village,Ohio/Bay), Olivia Clarino (Toronto, Ontario/Lawrence Park Collegiate Institute), and Lucy Noble (Flagler Beach, Fla./Flagler Palm Coast) collected 54 points for the Eagles.
In the 400y IM, Abby Szadorski (Oswego, Ill./Oswego East) paced EMU, swimming a team-season-best 4:29.83, finishing in fifth. Szadorski was followed by Maren Romine (San Antonio, Texas/International School of the Americas), who placed 16th in a personal-best 4:41.30. Morgan Hofmeister (Powell, Ohio/Liberty) concluded the scoring for the Green and White in the event as she finished 18th in 4:41.93.
Clarino placed fourth in the 100y butterfly, swimming the distance in 55.46 and securing 29 points for the Eagles. Katarina Pastar (Vienna, Austria/Gymnasium) pitched in, adding 22 points via her 10th place, personal-record finish (56.27), followed by Sang (19th – 57.10), and Sydney Ulmer (York, Pa./Central York/Savannah College of Art and Design)(22nd – 57.87). Along with Pastar, the times from Sang and Ulmer are also the best in their respective collegiate careers.
Kiertsen Russell (Clinton, Mich./Saline) began her night with an Eastern season-fastest in the 200y freestyle where she finished third individually in 1:50.67. Emma Littrell (Taylor Mill, Kentucky/St. Henry District) churned out a noteworthy performance as she clocked a personal-best, completing the event in 1:54.85 for a 21st-place finish.
LaRosa and Taylor Harris (Tiffin, Ohio/Calvert/Bowling Green) raked in a bulk of the Eagles' points in the 100y breaststroke. The duo scored 53 points together with LaRosa finishing sixth in 1:04.87 and Harris slotting in seventh in 1:04.92. Szadorski would swim Eastern's fastest time of the season in the event, clocking in at 1:03.81 in the "B" final.
The 100 backstroke saw Russell finish second in 55.24, Sang place ninth in 57.03, and Marlee Christie (Seminole, Fla./Seminole) finish 11th in 56.76. The trio scored 74 points for the Eagles.
