Roof Adds Casey Wila to Baseball Staff

Wila comes to Ypsilanti after time as an assistant coach at Aquinas College
YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University baseball program and Head Coach Eric Roof announce the addition of Volunteer Assistant Coach Casey Wila to the coaching staff Monday, Sept. 26.
"I am really excited to add Casey to our program and staff," Roof said. "His background speaks for itself. He is a tireless worker and will make an immediate impact on our program."
Wila will work closely with the outfielders and hitters, helping Assistant Coach Jonathan Roof with an EMU offense that belted a Mid-American Conference-leading 81 home runs in 2021.
Wila comes to Ypsilanti from Aquinas College, where he was an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator for six seasons (2016-21). In his final season with the Saints, Wila guided Aquinas' offense to 27 homers, a mark that ranks the highest in the program's history in the BBCOR era.
A Grand Rapids, Mich. native, Wila played his collegiate ball at Aquinas College where he is the single-season record holder in triples (7). A 2016 graduate of Aquinas College, Wila earned his bachelor's degree in business administration.
"I am thrilled to be joining the coaching staff at Eastern Michigan," Wila stated. "I had the opportunity to coach Glenn Miller (Pentwater, Mich.-Pentwater-Spring Arbor) this summer who spoke very highly of the program and the coaching staff. I had great conversations with head coach Eric Roof during the interview process that confirmed this was a great spot for me. As a Michigan native, I'm excited to join a local program and get to work, competing for Mid-American Conference championships."
