The highly-touted transfer arrives in Ypsilanti after one season with Georgetown
YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University men's basketball program and Head Coach Stan Heath are set to welcome the newest Eagle to campus as Jalin Billingsley (Cleveland, Ohio-Lutheran East (Georgetown)) has signed on to join the program for the upcoming 2022-23 season.
Billingsley, a 6-foot-8 forward, spent his freshman season as a member of the Georgetown University men's basketball program, playing under Head Coach Patrick Ewing. A nearly every-game player for the Hoyas, Billingsley saw time in 30 contests in 2021-22, which tied for the second-most of any player on the roster. The Cleveland, Ohio native averaged 2.1 points and 1.8 rebounds per contest, respectively, in 10.9 minutes of court time per game. Billingsley dropped a season-best 10 points in Georgetown's game against DePaul, Feb. 24, where he connected on a campaign-best four field goals and two triples. He added an impressive three blocks in that contest.
One of the most notable recruits out of the State of Ohio following his prep days, Billingsley attended Lutheran East High School where he played for Head Coach Sam Liggins as a Falcon. He led his varsity squad to a 16-3 overall record and the Ohio State Championship during his senior campaign, scoring 18 points per game while grabbing 14 rebounds per contest. He added four assists, three blocks, and two steals per effort during his senior campaign with LEHS. The forward averaged 17.4 points and 13.0 rebounds during his junior season while helping Lutheran East to the Division II regional semifinals. In addition to his high school ball, Billingsley also played for Tru Game EYBL 17U for AAU.
One of the state's best players, Billingsley was twice named a first team all-state selection in Ohio, and finished as Ohio's Mr. Basketball runner-up following his senior season.
