YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) — Jayson Wiseman has resigned from his position as Eastern Michigan University Head Women's Tennis Coach, EMU Vice President/Director of Athletics Scott Wetherbee announced today, May 18.

"We wish Jayson and his family the very best in his future endeavors," Wetherbee said. "He and his student-athletes have represented the University extremely well in the classroom and on the court. His leadership has afforded us a solid base for our women's tennis program in every respect. Our attention now turns to finding a dynamic leader that will continue to push us towards the goal of returning to the top of the Mid-American Conference."

Wiseman recently completed his fourth season in Ypsilanti after joining the University prior to the 2017-18 season. The Toledo, Ohio native finishes his EMU career with a 51-50 mark.

"I want to thank Scott for giving me the opportunity to lead this program for the last four seasons," added Wiseman. "I feel like I'm leaving the program in much better shape than when I arrived and headed on a positive trajectory moving forward. I look forward to pursuing some new opportunities that will allow me to watch my college and high school-age children in their athletic and extracurricular endeavors and still continue to contribute to the sport that I love. I have had a great experience working with the student-athletes and staff at Eastern Michigan and I look forward to watching the program reach new heights."

The team finished with a 15-16 overall record in 2021-22 and a 3-7 mark in MAC play. Overall, Eastern collected three weekly honors from the league office during the spring season. Additionally, freshman Prerna Vichare was named to the conference's second team, while redshirt senior Luisa Pelayo earned the Leann Grimes Davidge Sportsmanship Award, becoming the first Eagle to receive the honor since 2001.

A national search for a new women's tennis head coach will begin immediately.
