EMU Tennis Hosts Doubleheader on Senior Day

The Eagles welcome Western Michigan and Northwestern Ohio, April 22, and go to Ball State, April 24
YPSILANTI, Mich. & MUNCIE, Ind. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University tennis team will wrap up its 2022 spring season this weekend. The Green and White host Western Michigan University and the University of Northwestern Ohio Friday, April 22, for Senior Day. The doubleheader action will begin against the Broncos at 1 p.m., followed by a match with the Racers at 5 p.m. Then the Eagles travel to Muncie, Ind. to play their final match against Ball State University Sunday, April 24, starting at 1 p.m.
Eastern (14-15, 2-6 MAC) dropped its most recent contest, 4-3, to Northern Illinois, April 15. In the matchup, the No. 2 pairing of redshirt seniors Luisa Pelayo (Porto, Portugal-Colegio CEBES (Wright State)) and Grace Whitney (Imlay City, Mich.-Imlay City (Wright State)) won their third consecutive doubles match for the first time this season, 6-4.
In Kalamazoo, Mich., Western Michigan (12-10, 3-5 MAC) split its two matches over the weekend. WMU lost to Ball State, 4-3, April 15, before besting Kalamazoo College, 7-0, April 16. Meanwhile, UNOH (4-12, 2-2 WHAC) comes to Ypsilanti after playing a doubleheader, April 16. The Racers topped Lourdes, 7-0, before losing 4-3 to Cornerstone.
Ball State (16-3, 7-1 MAC) currently rides a four-match win streak, but will play Northern Illinois, April 22, before taking on Eastern Michigan, April 24. Over the four-match streak, the Cardinals boast wins over NIU (6-1), Bowling Green (4-3), Miami (6-1), and Western Michigan (4-3).
