The 1V8 and 2V8 boats each picked up a win on the Susquehanna River

SHAMOKIN DAM, Pa. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University rowing team battled Patriot League foe Bucknell University and fellow Colonial Athletic Association member Villanova University on the Susquehanna River today, April 16.

How It Happened
EMU's 1V8+ boat picked up a win in its first race of the day, edging Bucknell by less than a second, 6:40.24 to 6:41.04. Eastern's 2V8 clocked in at 6:57.94 in its race, but was outstroked by the Bison, who crossed the finish line in 6:54.08. Later in the day, the Green and White had another close race in the 2V8 boat, recording a time of 6:43.35 to Villanova's 6:39.28. However, Eastern Michigan's 2V8+ crew came up with a win, narrowly beating the Wildcats' boat, 7:06.64 to 7:07.69.

Quoting Head Coach Kemp Savage
"The 1V8 raced really well in the morning race, and the 2V8 raced well in the second race. We are still trying to find out race-to-race consistency, but we know we have winning boats when we race our best."
