The Oklahoma City native is just the sixth player in program history to earn All-MAC accolades three times

CLEVELAND, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) – Eastern Michigan University women's basketball redshirt senior guard Areanna Combs (Oklahoma City, Okla.-Putnam City West (Oklahoma State)) was voted as one of the Mid-American Conference's best players for her efforts during the 2021-22 campaign, the league office announced today, March 8.

Combs collected Second Team All-MAC honors for the third consecutive season. With the honor, she becomes just the sixth player in program history to be named to the MAC's first, second, third, or honorable mention teams three times in her career; she is the first to earn honors in three seasons since Cha Sweeny, who collected second team nods each season between 2014-16.

One of the most versatile players in the league, Combs finished the season ranking fourth in the MAC in steals per game (2.5) and fifth in total steals (60), despite missing the last three games of the campaign due to injury. Combs set a career-high with 10 steals against Grace Christian, Nov. 18, to help her achieve her first-ever triple-double (12 points, 11 assists, 10 steals), just the fourth in program history. Additionally, the guard recorded at least one steal in 15-straight games to end her career.

On the offensive end, Combs was once again dominant, finishing sixth in the league in scoring (18.2 points per game), while dropping 10+ points in 22 performances this season.

Combs finishes her EMU career as one of the best to ever don the Green and White. She became the program's 24th 1,000-point scorer in 2021-22, needing just 55 career games to hit the mark, and closes her time at Eastern No. 3 position in all-time scoring average. She ranks 15th on the all-time points list (1,257), and is the only player in the top-25 on that list to have played in fewer than 70 career games (68).
