The Eagles earn their first win of the spring season

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) -- The Eastern Michigan University tennis team defeated Lawrence Technical University, 7-0, in its first home action of the spring season today, Feb. 4, inside the Chippewa Club. The Eagles move to 1-2 overall. 

"This was a good team win," said Head Coach Jayson Wiseman. "We got great performances from everyone who played. It was good to see our team come out with great effort, and keep their foot on the throttle all the way through to the finish.

How It Happened
Eastern Michigan swept Lawrence Tech in the match, led in doubles competition by two 6-0 performances. Freshman duo Sabina Brichackova (Cheb, Czech Republic-Gymnazium Jana Blahoslava) and Prerna Vichare (Mumbia, India-Narsee Monjee College of Commerce and Economics) competed in the No. 1 slot, while the No. 2 pairing consisted of junior Julia Piatek (Melgiew, Poland-Liceum Lublin (Salem)) and redshirt sophomore Emma-Lou Pommiers (Aire-sur-L'Adour, France-Saint Dominique Pau). Redshirt freshman Asia Allen (Sanford, Fla.-Seminole (Rio Grand Valley)) and redshirt senior Vasavi Ganesan (Tamil Nadu, India-Alagappa Matriculation School (Eastern Florida State)) defeated their Blue Devil opponents, 6-2, in the No. 3 spot. 

Securing wins in singles action was redshirt sophomore Isabelle Popma (Staphorst, Netherlands-Center for Sports and Education), Vichare, Brichackova, Piatek, redshirt senior Grace Whitney (Imlay City, Mich.-Imlay City (Wright State)), and Allen, competing 1-6, respectively.
