Eastern Michigan Tennis Loses Road Match to Mercer, 7-0

The Eagles travel to Orlando, Fla. next, March 3-5, for three matches

MACON, Ga. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University tennis team dropped a road match, 7-0, at Mercer University today, Feb. 26. The Eagles return home 7-7 overall in the spring season.
 
"We put in a lot of effort and were very close in a number of spots," said Head Coach Jayson Wiseman. "We just didn't do enough in some critical points to get the win."
 
How It Happened
The No. 3 freshmen pairing of Sabina Brichackova (Cheb, Czech Republic-Gymnazium Jana Blahoslava) and Prerna Vichare (Mumbai, India-College of Economics and Commerce) secured a 6-1 win in doubles, but the Eagles were unable to secure the doubles point.
 
In singles, redshirt senior Luisa Pelayo (Porto, Portugal-Colegio CEBES (Wright State)) fought hard at No. 2 but fell in three sets, 6-3, 3-6, 6-1. Classmate Vasavi Ganesan (Chennai, India-Alagappa Matriculation School (Eastern Florida State)) also went to three sets, falling 4-6, 6-2, 6-4, at No. 5. In the No. 6 spot, redshirt sophomore Emma-Lou Pommiers (Aire-sur-l'Adour, France-Dominique Saint Pau) also fell in a three-set match, 3-6, 6-4, 6-3.
