The honor is the first of Falinski's career

CLEVELAND, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) -- Eastern Michigan University freshman Adam Falinksi (Howell, Mich.-Detroit Catholic Central) garnered Mid-American Conference Co-Pitcher of the Week honor, the conference office announced today, Feb. 21.

It is the first career award for the freshman. The right-hander was unbelievable in his first career outing, Sunday, Feb. 20 at Winthrop. Falinski led EMU to its first win of the season, going 7.0 innings on the bump and allowing just two hits. He struck out six Winthrop hitters and issued just three free passes. The freshman's outing is the longest of any Eagle thus far in 2022. He leads the league in ERA, opponent batting average (.091), innings pitched (7.0), wins (1), and is fourth in strikeouts (6). Last season, EMU needed 33 games to record its first shutout. The Howell, Mich. native, with the help of relievers in the eighth and ninth, led EMU's effort to do it in just three contests this season.

Eastern finish its season-opening series with a record of 1-2. Falinksi and Co. return to the diamond Friday, Feb. 26, to begin a three-game road series versus Tennessee Tech.
