BOISE, Idaho (EMUEagles.com) –
The countdown to kickoff continued for the Eastern Michigan University football team as it prepares for the 26th Annual Famous Idaho Potato Bowl today, Dec. 19, in Boise, Idaho.

The Eagles will kick off against the San Jose State University Spartans tomorrow, Dec. 20, at 3:30 p.m. ET.

The day started bright and early for a contingent of Eagles who voluntarily joined members of the SJSU team for the bowl's Fellowship of Christian Athletes breakfast. There, the team members interacted with hundreds of local community members.

A full slate for ninth-year Head Coach Chris Creighton, he was joined by seniors Taylor Powell (Fayetville, Ark.-Fayetville-Missouri-Troy) and Jose Ramirez (Lake Alfred, Fla.-Auburndale-Arizona-Riverside City) for the game's official press conference, which took place at Alberstons Stadium, the site of the game. Media members from across the country took part in the event, with each participant fielding numerous questions during the event.

From there, the trio joined the rest of the team for their final pregame preparations, a team walk-through, before donning their game jerseys for the official team photo for this year's postseason game.

Right back to the action, the EMU student-athletes and coaches then traveled to downtown Boise for one of the most memorable moments of the trip. A total of 16 student-athletes and four student support staff members were joined by University dignitaries for an outdoor commencement ceremony. EMU's official commencement ceremonies were held yesterday in Ypsilanti. Special guests included President, Dr. Jim Smith, EMU Vice President/Director of Athletics, Scott Wetherbee, numerous members of the EMU Board of Regents, and hundreds of fans and supporters. The EMU marching band, cheer and dance teams were also in attendance, helping to officially paint Boise Green and White!

Not done yet, fans then participated, alongside the band, cheer, and dance teams in the "Mash Bash," the official Famous Idaho Potato Bowl pep rally. Joined by representatives from SJSU, the event featured live performances, and a "battle of the bands."

The night finished with a final meal and team meetings as the team made its final preparations for gameday.

Kick off of the 2022 Famous Idaho Potato Bowl is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. ET. The game will be aired nationally on ESPN, as well as on WEMU (89.1 FM) and on the Varsity Network app. A special 30-minute pregame show will begin at 3 p.m. ET on WEMU and the Varsity Network app, with Tom Helmer, Rob Rubick, Greg Steiner, and Alex Jewell. Helmer and Rubick will have the call of the game.
