The university's most decorated gymnast, Hashimoto scored EMU’s only perfect 10 (twice) in program history.

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) - To commemorate the 50-year anniversary of the passage of Title IX, Eastern Michigan University Athletics will spotlight both former and current student-athletes and their teams.

Legendary Eagle Natalie Hashimoto was a four-year member of the EMU gymnastics team (2000-03) where Hashimoto was the most decorated Eagle in program history. Hashimoto earned a postseason Mid-American Conference distinction in each of her extraordinary seasons in Ypsilanti. As a first-year in 2000, she earned MAC Freshman of the Year honors. Hashimoto claimed the conference's Gymnast of the Year honor in consecutive seasons (2001-02) and was named MAC Senior Gymnast of the Year in her final competitive season.

Hashimoto was an all-around NCAA Regional Qualifier every season she competed for the Eagles. She was also a member of the MAC All-Tournament Team three consecutive seasons (2000-02) and notched an Academic All-MAC distinction in 2003.

Hashimoto cemented herself in the Eastern Michigan record books early on in her Eagle career. In her freshman season, Hashimoto scored EMU's first perfect 10 on beam. Hashimoto also broke the record for best all-around score in program history, earning a 39.725 in her rookie campaign. Additionally, the Canadian is currently tied for the highest scores on floor and bars as well, recording an almost perfect 9.950 on both events. Hashimoto also owns the top seven scores in program history for vault.

In the following season, she nailed a perfect 10 on vault, also the Eagles' first on the apparatus. Hashimoto still holds the program record in both events, scoring the only two perfect 10's in school history.

In 2002, Hashimoto scored a 9.900 on floor at the MAC Championships, earning her a Co-MAC Floor title. Her performance aided the Eagles to a team program record of 49.425 on floor that still stands today.
