Tomasek Earns Second MAC Player of the Week Honor

The sophomore punter leads the MAC in yards per punt in 2022
CLEVELAND, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) - Eastern Michigan University sophomore punter Mitchell Tomasek (Columbus, Ohio-Worthington Kilbourne) collected Mid-American Conference West Division Special Teams Player of the Week honors, the league announced today, Oct. 3. It marks the second time in his career he has garnered the accolade.
Eastern Michigan was forced to punt four times in its win over UMass, Oct. 1. In those punts, Tomasek accrued a total of 184 yards, good for a 46.0 yards per punt average. That moved his season average to 45.6 yards per punt, good for the top spot in the MAC. In addition, Tomasek also tallied one punt of over 50 yards, going for 55 yards. It is his fifth punt of the season of more than 50 yards, second in the MAC.
Eastern Michigan hits the road for the first time in 2022 Mid-American Conference play when it travels to Kalamazoo, Mich. for an in-state date with rival Western Michigan University Saturday, Oct. 8, at noon. The game will be broadcast nationally on the NFL Network. WEMU 89.1 FM will also carry the action as Tom Helmer and Rob Rubick will have the call.
