Swim & Dive Begins 2022-23 Season Friday at Toledo

TOLEDO, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University swimming and diving program begins its 2022-23 campaign with a Mid-American Conference match up at the University of Toledo Friday, Oct. 28. The first event is scheduled for 5 p.m. inside the Student Recreation Center Pool on UT's campus. Toledo will be streaming the meet on its swimming and diving Facebook page. Fans can also follow live results via MeetMobile.
SEASON IN REVIEW: Last season, Eastern finished with an overall record of 2-3 and placed fifth in the MAC Championships, Feb. 26, with a total team score of 354. Additionally, the Eagles earned 20 top-10 program times/scores throughout the campaign while the diving team sent four divers to the NCAA Zone Diving Championships.
Furthermore, the Eagles saw 15 student-athletes named to the Academic All-MAC team, while the program was also named to the CSCAA Scholar All-America Team. Eastern returns 23 letterwinners from last year's roster and brings in eight newcomers (all freshmen). Additionally, three of the four divers to make the 2022 NCAA Zone Championships return to the Eagles' 2022-23 roster (Camryn Hughes, Rebekah Knapp, and Keira Veltigian).
SCOUTING TOLEDO: The Rockets dropped their season-opening meet to Oakland University 180-120, Oct. 14. UT won six events against the Golden Grizzlies with the freestylers collecting all six victories. This season, the Rockets will look to improve its last-place finish (eighth) in the 2022 MAC Championships, Feb. 26.
The Rockets return 17 swimmers and three divers. Head Coach Brie Globig, now entering her fourth season, also welcomes 10 newcomers and a new diving coach, Gabby Han.
ON THE HORIZON: EMU will continue its fall slate with a meeting in Ann Arbor, Mich. against both the University of Michigan and Ohio University, Nov. 4. The meet will begin at 5 p.m. inside the Canham Natatorium.
