YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan-Northern Illinois football game, scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 2, will kick off at 1:30 p.m. CT (2:30 p.m. ET) and will be shown on ESPN+, the Mid-American Conference announced today, Sept. 20. WEMU (89.1 FM) will provide audio coverage of the game at Huskie Stadium in DeKalb, Ill.
The Eagles and Huskies have met 51 times in their respective histories in a series that dates back to 1927. NIU holds a strong lead in the all-time tally, going 33-16-2, including winning 11 of the last 13 contests.
Eastern has won the previous two meetings in the series. The consecutive victories over Northern Illinois are the first for Eastern since the program won two in-a-row over the Huskies in 1987 and 1997, respectively.
Three of EMU's last five meetings with NIU have been decided in overtime by a combined 13 points.
Eastern last played in DeKalb in 2019. A good night for the Eagles, the team won in convincing fashion, 45-17, as it put up its best point total inside Huskie Stadium since the 1997 campaign. The win also earned EMU bowl eligibility for the third time under Chris Creighton.
