All three players earn the honors for the first time in their careers

CLEVELAND, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) –  Three members of the Eastern Michigan University baseball were named to the All-Mid-American Conference postseason teams, the league office announced today, June 1.

Representing the Green and White on the list are senior Mike Monahan (Saline, Mich.-Saline), a first team selection as the designated hitter, junior Taylor Hopkins (Mason, Ohio-Archbishop Moeller), a first team at-large selection, and senior Davis Feldman (Warren, Mich.-Brother Rice), a second team selection as a starting pitcher. For all three student-athletes, this is the first All-MAC honor in their career.

Monahan and Hopkins' selections to the first team mark the first Eagles to appear on the first team since Zachary Owings in 2018. Moreover, this is the first time two EMU players have been awarded First Team All-MAC accolades since Brent Ohrman and Sam Ott in 2012.

Bursting on to the scene as the team's designated hitter in 2021, Monahan set career-highs in virtually every category over his 26 games, including 22 starts, 28 hits, 26 of which have been in May, the most single-month hits for an Eagle since 2019, 14 RBIs, a .451 slugging percentage, and a .386 on-base percentage. The Saline, Mich. native also put together a team-best 13-game hitting streak this season. The senior put together his best series of the season at St. Bonaventure, May 1, totaling seven hits and five RBIs, including going 4-for6 in game one. Monahan also launched his first career home run against Toledo, May 11.

A team captain, Feldman appeared in 12 games for the Eagles, with 10 being starts during the 2021 campaign. This season, the Warren, Mich. native totaled a career-high four victories, while posting a career-low 2.75 ERA. He amassed 58 strikeouts over his 59.0 innings pitched, while also adding a save to his record. In his final appearance on the mound against Kent State, May 29, he recorded a career-high 10 strikeouts.

The only member of the 2021 squad to both play in and start all 51 games this season, Hopkins established his presence both as the team's leadoff hitter and captain of the infield. The junior finished with a .306 batting average, consisting of a team-best 56 hits as well as eight home runs, 30 RBIs, and a .486 slugging percentage on the season. The Mason, Ohio native also recorded a .950 fielding clip. This season, Hopkins had a 4-for-4 day at the plate against St. Bonaventure, May 1, while also delivering Eastern Michigan's first walkoff home run since 2016 against Kent State, May 28.
