The Joliet, Ill. native comes to Ypsilanti from Louisiana State University

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) -- The Eastern Michigan University women's basketball program and Head Coach Fred Castro continue to build the team's 2021-22 roster, which includes the acquisition of Illinois native and Louisiana State University transfer Treasure Thompson (Joliet, Ill.-Bolingrook (Louisiana State)), the team announced today, April 20.

Thompson, who hails from Joliet, Ill. will join the Eagles for the upcoming season after spending her freshman campaign with the Tigers.

"I could not be more excited to add a player of Treasure Thompson's caliber," said Castro. "We have been very familiar with her and her style of play since her high school days at Bolingbrook. It is rare to find a 6-foot-3 lefty post player with her type of athleticism, and who loves to be in the gym so often. In our conversations, it was clear that she would be an ideal fit with our program both on and off the court. Our fans and student body will enjoy watching Treasure compete in the Mid-American Conference over the next four years!"

A 6-foot-3 forward, Thompson saw action in six games with LSU last season.

Thompson was a 2019 Third Team All-State honoree in Class 4A by the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association as Bolingbrook advanced to the Sectional Semifinals. She was the No. 81 recruit in the nation and the No. 3 player in the state of Illinois at her position as reported by Prospect Nation. She spent her first two seasons of high school at Lockport High School.

Thompson will join an incoming class that includes true freshmen Lachelle Austin (Redford, Mich.-Wayne Memorial), Kyndal Lewis (Belton, Mo.-Belton), Peyton Pinkney (Pittsburgh, Pa.-Woodland Hills), and Madisyn Tillman (Kentwood, Mich.-East Kentwood). Full information on all the newest Eagles can be read here.

Castro, Thompson, and the rest of the 2021-22 Eastern Michigan roster will complete their summer workout schedule before returning to practice in preparation for the beginning of the season this fall. Full schedule details will be made available in the coming months.
