YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University Department of Athletics announced yesterday evening, March 17, that former football student-athlete, EMU graduate, and current member of the Kansas City Chiefs, Andrew Wylie, has pledged a $150,000 gift to the Student-Athlete Performance Center.

As part of his contribution, the offensive line meeting room will be permanently named in his honor.

Wylie, who in his free time is an avid video-gamer and a member of the Kansas City Pioneers E-Sports Organization, took to a Twitch livestream to make the announcement. He was joined by EMU Senior Associate Athletic Director for Development Dan McLean, as well as fellow former student-athlete and President of the greater-Cleveland based delivery company, DeliverThat, Darien Terrell.

"I am very happy to be in a position to be able to give back to the school that gave so much to me," said Wylie. "I had a great four years at Eastern Michigan, and made so many lifelong friends during that time. The offensive line room is a sacred place, the big bodies in that room have the ability to control the outcome of entire seasons, bowl games, and championships. I'm blessed to have my name be a part of a room that made me into the athlete I am today.

In conjunction with Wylie's generous gift, the EMU Office of Development has announced a special gift-matching campaign, aimed at raising an additional $150,000 for the newly-erected performance center. Eastern is challenging 60 former football student-athletes to sponsor lockers through the Football Locker Campaign, by April 16.

"We are so grateful to Andrew and proud of his accomplishments on and off the field," said McLean. "Working with him on this challenge gift and incorporating our shared love of E-Sports was pure fun,"

"Andrew's part of EMU Football history is a special one, and getting to watch him on Sundays with the Chiefs is a testament to hard work, perseverance and toughness," said Vice President/Director of Athletics Scott Wetherbee. "We appreciate his generosity and leading by example for our current student-athletes and alumni."

About Andrew Wylie

At Eastern Michigan, Wylie was one of the anchors of a stellar EMU offensive line, where he earned Third Team All-Mid-American Conference honors in 2016. He started all 13 games at right tackle as a senior, and helped Eastern reach a postseason bowl game for the first-time in 29 years when the team participated in the 2016 Bahamas Bowl. EMU's 1-11 record in 2015 to 7-6 record in 2016 was the best turnaround in all of FBS football.

Wylie was one of the leaders of the 2016 EMU senior class that helped pave the way for the historic success that the program has reached during its last four seasons. EMU is 25-25 since 2016, its most wins in a four-season span since 1987-90 when the Eagles went 10-2, 6-3-1, 7-3- 1, and 2-9.
Wylie finished his career with 46 starts, which ranks fifth all-time at EMU, while his 47 appearances are tied for 11th all-time. Last year, he was awarded a spot on Eastern's All-Decade team for the years of 2010-2019, a list compiled and published by the school's athletic media relation's office with the help of EMU football experts.

Professionally, Wylie plays for the Kansas City Chiefs. A multi-year starter, he has been part of consecutive Super Bowl Appearances, winning Super Bowl LIV in 2019.

Wylie is a native of Midland, Mich.
