YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) — The Eastern Michigan University tennis team opens the doors of the Chippewa Club to Oakland University Friday, Feb. 26, for doubleheader action. The matches are scheduled for 1 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

Eastern (3-4; 0-0 MAC) will be looking to build off its 4-3 win at Wayne State, Feb. 21. Oakland (0-1; 0-0 Horizon) starts its season with back-to-back games in Muncie, Ind. against Ball State. The Grizzlies lost the first contest, 1-6, Tuesday, Feb. 23. The second match between the two is scheduled for today, Feb. 24, at 7:15 p.m.

Eagles fans saw some new pairings in doubles action, Feb. 21 in Detroit, as redshirt sophomore Julia Piatek (Melgiew, Poland-Liceum Lublin (Salem)) and redshirt freshman Isabelle Popma (Staphorst, Netherlands-Center for Sports and Education) earned a win in their first match together at the No. 2 spot. Redshirt junior Vasavi Ganesan (Tamil Nadu, India-Alagappa Matricualtion School (Eastern Florida State)) and redshirt freshman Emma-Lou Pommiers (Aire-sur-I'Adour, France-Saint Dominique Pau) also saw victory in their first time together, playing in the No. 3 slot.

Redshirt junior transfer Luisa Pelayo (Porto, Portugal-Colegio Cebes (Wright State)) has been the most consistent Eagle in singles play, boasting a 6-1 overall record (.857 win percentage) in the No. 3 spot. Pommiers improved her singles record against WSU, Feb. 21, to 4-2 in the No. 5 spot.

The Green and White were also scheduled to play another doubleheader this weekend, at Butler University Sunday, Feb. 28. Those contests have been postponed, however, the Eagles and Bulldogs are looking to reschedule.
