Each week a number of Eagles will be honored for their success in competition

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) -- Each week, the Eastern Michigan University Department of Athletics names the EMUCU's Athletes of the Week, as selected by the athletic media relations department based on their athletic performances from the previous week.

Name: Ce'Nara Skanes
Sport: Women's Basketball
Position: Forward
Year: Redshirt Sophomore
GPA:  3.37
Major: Therapeutic Recreation
Week's Achievements (detailed description of week's events):
Redshirt sophomore Ce'Nara Skanes led Eastern Michigan in what was a milestone game for both the team and her individual career versus Toledo, Feb. 21. A 69-59 victory, the win was number 400 all-time for Eastern Michigan (men's and women's basketball) inside its home venue, the Convocation Center. The building has been home to EMU's basketball programs and volleyball teams, as well as administration offices and various other staffers, since it first opened for the 1998-99 campaign. The win was also the third consecutive for the Eagles over their rival Rockets, its best stretch since the same streak between the 2014-15 and 2015-16 seasons. Individually, the effort was another dominant performance for what has been an outstanding first season for Skanes. Her 13-point, 12 rebound game was her 10th double-double of the season, which is the most by any first-year player in the conference this season. That number is just seven behind the all-time modern statistical record at Eastern (1998-Pres.), which is held by four-year letterwinner and Academic All-American Sarah VanMetre (2003-07). Her double-double numbers have ranked inside the top-10 in the nation for the majority of the season. Skanes leads all Eagles with 174 total rebounds during the 2020-21 campaign, and is one of just three players in the league to average 10+ rebounds. She is second on the team with 272 points.

Name: Jada Rondeau
Sport: Gymnastics
Position: Bars
Year: Senior
GPA:  3.81

The senior finished third in all-around, scoring 37.825 with her highest score of the night coming on floor, a 9.850 to tie for second in DeKalb, Ill. Then in Kalamazoo, the Minnesota native tied her personal-best all-around score of 39.200 for second place in the event, while solidifying herself second all-time on beam, with a first place score of 9.950. The all-arounder also finished first on bars with a 9.875, and third on floor with the same score. Rondeau now ties with Payton Murphy from Western for the highest beam score in the MAC this season.
