NORMAN, Okla. (EMUEgles.com) --
Redshirt sophomore Ce'Nara Skanes (Oklahoma City, Okla.-Putnam City West (Florida International)) registered a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds, but the Eastern Michigan women's basketball team fell to the Oklahoma University Sooners, 94-58, on the road Tuesday, Dec. 7 inside the Lloyd Noble Center.

The Eagles (2-4, 0-0 MAC) had three players score in double figures, led by redshirt senior Areanna Combs (Oklahoma City, Okla.-Putnam City West (Oklahoma State)), who had 14 points and four steals. Classmate Danielle Rainey (Washington, D.C.-Vista Ridge (Florida)) added 11 points and two steals and Skanes helped out with a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.

Skanes pulled down three of the Eagles' 11 offensive rebounds to add 10 much-needed  second chance points

The Eastern Michigan defense was a problem in Tuesday's game, forcing 16 Oklahoma turnovers. Those takeaways turned into 12 points on the other end of the floor. Combs' four steals led the way individually for the Eagles.

How It Happened

Eastern Michigan struggled out of the gate, falling behind 27-17 at the end of the first quarter.

Oklahoma kept adding to that lead, building a 46-29 advantage before Eastern Michigan went on a 6-0 run to narrow its deficit to 46-35, a score that held until halftime.

Oklahoma continued to increase its lead after halftime, building a 48-35 advantage before Eastern Michigan went on a 5-0 run, punctuated by a three from Rainey, to trim its deficit to 48-40 with 8:09 to go in the third. Oklahoma countered and stretched its lead to 72-44 heading into the fourth. Eastern Michigan knocked down three three-pointers in the quarter to score nine of its nine total points.

Eastern Michigan could not pull any closer in the fourth, losing by a final of 94-58.
